The Tine/Superman Series

Strømsted & Hurst, Photography (2012)

In this work, we combine three symbols: the superhero, the Norwegian hero and the monopoly. We interpret Norway through the dairy product giant Tine, which controls 96% of the milk in Norway. The superhuman ideal and issues such as tradition, authority, identity, nationalism, internationalization and capitalism are examined in a number of simple photographs. On the outside of the Norwegian whole milk carton is a picture of a peasant boy with a hammer in his hand. We turn him into another fantasy: Superman. We draw a superman costume on the milk carton and put it in the hand of people with bare arms on the streets of Norway.
